membership and prices

Membership

To become a member of The Climbing Works you must have prior experience climbing at an indoor wall and be a confident climber. It doesn't matter what grade you climb, just that you're happy in an indoor environment.

If you're visiting us for the first time and wish to become a member then you can download the registration form and fill it in beforehand to speed up the process.

If you're above 14 but under 18, you can also become a junior member of The Climbing Works but first you must pass a Under 18 climbing assessment. Please call us on 0114 250 9990 to find out more details on this assessment. You can download the U18 registration form ( which must be filled out by a parent or legal guardian) here.

Children under 14 can climb at The Climbing Works ONLY under the supervision of either an instructor or a supervising adult who MUST be a member of The Climbing Works. You can read more about children and The Climbing Works here>>

First Time?

If you've never climbed before, you can complete an Adult Induction course at The Climbing Works that will cover everything you need to know to boulder safely.

A £2.00 one off registration fee will have to be paid by every new member on their first visit.

The pricing structure at The Climbing Works is nice and simple.

Peak standard - £6.50
Peak concessions -£5.50
Off-peak standard rate - £5.50
Off-peak concessions - £4.50
Under 7's participating in bouldering - £3.50

* Excludes under 7's attending the parent / toddler sessions on Thursdays from 12-2pm (which is free).

Family deals are also available as we encourage parents to climb with their children. Ask at reception for more details.

Peak is 4-10pm Mon-Fri and all day weekends.

Off-peak is noon-4pm Mon-Fri.

Concessions = U18’s, full time students & OAP’s (ID may be requested).

Passes / Membership

Monthly pass £45.00 - Runs for 1 calendar month from date of payment e.g. you join on the 17th of January then your last ‘free climb’ is on the 16th of February. Must be paid in advance.
Monthly pass concessions - £36.00. Runs for 1 calendar month from date of payment e.g. you join on the 17th of January then your last ‘free climb’ is on the 16th of February. Must be paid in advance.
3 monthly pass - £111.00 - Runs for 3 calendar month from date of payment e.g. you join on the 17th of January then your last ‘free climb’ is on the 16th of April. Must be paid in advance.
3 monthly pass concessions - £88.80 - Runs for 3 calendar month from date of payment e.g. you join on the 17th of January then your last ‘free climb’ is on the 16th of April. Must be paid in advance.
Annual membership £300.00 - Standing order available, £25.00 ‘deposit’ then 11 equal payments of £25.00 to be taken from your account starting on the first day of the next month+1 from when you sign up. e.g. you join on the 17th Jan then your 1st SO payment is due on or around the 1st of March.
Annual membership concessions £240.00 - Standing order available, £20.00 ‘deposit’ then 11 equal payments of £20.00 to be taken from your account as above.

Full, monthly and 3 monthly members are entitled to use the facility at any time whilst The Climbing Works is open, subject to the following condition:

The Climbing Works will be shut to the public (including ANNUAL MEMBERS) for a MAXIMUM of 14 days per year. This will include the following: Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day, essential maintenance days (e.g. route setting or other renovation work), competition days (e.g. international events), private hire days (e.g. corporate or sponsors days) and other unspecified days.

Annual members will receive the following additional benefits:

10% discount off all items from our shop (excluding sale items, special offers, magazines or guidebooks)
Other benefits will be announced as and when!!

Hire kit (deposit may be requested).

Guests

If you are an adult member of The Climbing Works, you can supervise a maximum of 2 people per visit. The guests can be a mix of children or adults but no more than 2 guests will be allowed per visit.
