The most famous and classic of all bouldering pads, the BD Drop Zone, has had a makeover for the new decade with new features to improve durability and usability.
A new fabric on the bottom (anti-slide, waterproof EPO) makes the pad more hardwearing and 'grippier'. This means you can abuse your pad a little bit more but more importantly, your pad won't slip off that slopey damp landing when you're at the crux mantle.
The closure system has been made even more user friendly with a quick closure elastic mesh flap that allows you to open and close the pad more easily. The classic full closure flap is retained allowing you to pack the pad with all your vital bouldering kit - shoes, down jacket, tea - without the worry of it dropping out on the hike to the crag.

Padding: 3.5 in (89 mm) total. 1in (25mm) closed-cell PE foam on top, 2.5in (65mm) high compression PU foam on bottom

Overview:
The Drop Zone is an excellent all-around pad with a large carrying capacity. Built with two and a half inches (64 mm) of open-cell foam for energy absorption and one inch (25 mm) of closed-cell foam for force dissipation, its taco design and bottom and side flaps (with stainless steel buckles) let you stuff it full of gear. An accessory pocket on the side flap secures your small essentials. The removable, padded shoulder straps and hip belt (mounted high on the pad for clearance in tight spots) provide a comfortable carry.
